An Ode to my Sister

She says it's mere coincidence.
Predicting all these accidents.
But I can see the malice in her eyes.

Maybe it's just premonition.
A lethal woman's intuition.
And maybe she's the Devil in disguise.

What could  her powers be?
Black magic? Maybe ESP?
Destruction always follows in her path.

And when her eyes begin their storming.
Incantations start their forming.
Who will be the victim of her wrath?

Tell me please, I have to know.
Were you once Marie Laveau?
Did you walk the streets of New Orleans?

In another time, another life.
Did Satan take you for his wife?
Were you once the great enchanted queen?

No cross of gold will save you.
From her ancient brand of voodoo.
Lock the doors and man the barricade.
Marie Laveau has risen from the grave.
