Solitary Inquisition When I close my eyes to find a dream. My thoughts collide in broken streams. Of now and then, and what could never be. Memories from a younger age. I've locked inside this mental cage. Come creeping out at night to lay beside me. "Remember this?" they whisper low. I plead with them to let me go. But laughter only echoes from within. It's reminiscence gone insane. This twisted walk down memory lane. Of old regrets and long forgotten sin. This Solitary Inquisition. Unabridged, without revision. Self-imposed reminder of the pain. The wounds have healed, and yet the scars remain. I closed my eyes to find a dream. But the memories instead found me. How much longer will they lay my soul to waste? Until the new regrets arrive to take their place. Poetry Corner Verse & Graphic by Poet Etc... |
